This is possibly the best hotel you could stay in if you are planning to attend the San Diego Comic-Con and could not afford the unbelievably expensive hotels around the Convention Center. Still is a bit pricey; however, the amenities that come with this place will make this the “best value” hotel to make your Comic Con experience memorable and stress-free. First , it is a mere three miles from the airport and is near the Free Shuttle Bus stop to SDCC. The hotel has a nice modern look to it, with a restaurant at the lobby where you can have a heavy breakfast before heading to the Con. Theirbreakfast menu was delish, I didn’t even venture out anymore on any of the nearby brekkie joints. Just outside the elevator to my floor is a wall mounted ice and water dispenser . The hotel also replenished my water bottles (or should I say, Cartons) daily so I always had fresh water in my room. The King Bed City View room I had was chic and sizable . Room temp was nice and cold to offset the city’s summer heat, and I’m glad the staff gave me extra comforters and pillows. The walls were not entirely noise proof and I could still hear some muffled conversations but thank goodness not to the point of vulgar disruption. The room Tv has several channels but I was left wishing for a more extensive cable lineup. Wi-Fi signal was pretty good. Water pressure was decent. Thank goodness they also have a Keurig CoffeeMaker; however, the refrigerator was not cold enough. Bed is clean, very comfortable, no dust, no strange smells and no scratch marks. Staff and Valet have been courteous, amiable and responsive. The neighborhood also had a nearby Rite Aid Pharmacy, a Starbucks, a 7-11 store, a nice Mediterranean kebab place for any late to-go meal. The Little Italy Trolley Station that takes you to the rest of San Diego or Bus Depots uptown for that Los Angeles day trip is also a 7-minute walk from the hotel.

We stayed a a night with our family dog. Our dog was so welcome and that made us happy. Of course the staff welcomed us, the two-legged as well. The room was immaculate. The pool area was very nice, cozy and well shaded due to its location. We walked towards the ocean easily and to Little Italy area for wonderful restaurant experiences, wine bar and bakery. Overnight street parking was possible (free after 6:00 pm and Sunday). Stayed for only one night but thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the hospitality.. Every dollar spent was so worthwhile.

The carte hotel was chic as much as it was safe, clean and a wonderful place to stay in downtown San Diego. The staff was always helpful with a smile and we found easy parking (paid) down the block. We were in easy walking distance to the harbor and little Italy. Our room had everything we needed with a great view if the city. The food at both restaurants and staff were excellent. We only wish we had more time to explore San Diego. So many great neighborhoods and dining options. The hotel was a gem!!

Gail

We stayed 8/19-8/22. The hotel was very clean. We stayed during Tropical Storm Hilary and there was a lot of fear about the storm. The staff was very friendly and reassuring. On the day of the storm, many stores and restaurants that were in walking distance were closed. The Carte Bar was excellent and the Fit Gym was beautiful! We were so glad we had something to do instead of being stuck in our room! We had some great conversations with Josh our bartender.

Jodi

Great location with very clean rooms and facilities as expected. Breakfast was good but expensive. All the staff were very nice except the two ladies on reception when it came to checking out. It's a shame because it negates all the hard work of the other staff.
